AIIMS, Gorakhpur will have both undergraduate(ug)and postgraduate(PG) medical education in all branches of medical science and related field, nursing and paramedical training , educational facilities of the highest order and giving training of personnel in all branches of health care activities.

Outpatient Department (OPD) at AIIMS, Gorakhpur is now completely paperless from the day of its inception. From the day of its inception,You can say AIIMS Gorakhpur has been having one of the busiest OPD’s which cover approximately 1000 patients visiting in the OPD every day. It is catering to patients from all over world of the country and encounters wide variety of diseases.

The patients in OPD need compassionate care, clear communication and convenience. AIIMS, Gorakhpur endeavor to provide this along with counselling for the patients.

The OPD is the most appropriate place for health education for healthcare professionals.

On July 2014, in the budget Minister of Finance Arun Jaitley announced a budget of ₹500 crore for setting up four new AIIMS, in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, the Vidarbha region of  Maharashtra and the Purvanchal region in Uttar Pradesh, the so-called "Phase-IV" institutes.AIIMS Gorakhpur stones laid by Honourable Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi on 22 July 2016. As we tell above outpatient department (OPD) started on 24 February 2019 and it have first batch of 50 MBBS students started in 2021 year, making it one of six AIIMSs to become operational in 2019.MR. Surekha Kishor was appointed director in March 2020.
